Make Communities delivers purpose driven support to organizations committed to equitable change.
We were founded in 2013 and have worked with more than one hundred organizations across twenty states. Our philosophy is to pursue transformational work, no matter the industry or sector. We have worked with foundations, governments, public space developers and managers, the financial and health care industries, public policy and housing sector non-profits, academia, and more.
Anthony Armstrong has been there with organizations at critical moments for 20 years, with empathy, honesty, purpose, and the occasional dad joke. Anthony (he/him) comes from an interdisciplinary background in community development: analyzing, convening, coaching, advocating, and building capacity for change. He holds a B.A. in Media Study from University at Buffalo Honors College, an M.S. in Urban Affairs with a concentration in Community Development from Hunter College, and teaches Neighborhood and Community Development at Buffalo State College. Anthony is also the host of White People Make Everything About Race, a podcast for people well meaning white folks trying to make sense of their own racial identity.
He has had the opportunity to work with lots of amazing clients and to meet and partner with people doing fantastic work. But his favorite assignment is always the next one, continuing to learn and grow his own understanding and ability, building a shared community of practitioners working together for equity and opportunity for all.
